Customized Funeral Home Requests
When you are working on a final service with a funeral home, you can customize the service in a number of different ways through the casket, music, readings, and eulogy.
While funerals are generally traditional events that have a certain course of action, that doesn’t mean each and every final service isn’t also customized. The funeral home you work with on a loved one’s final services should have lots of ideas for things you can do to make the service special and unique. You can come up with your own, as well, but these will get you started in the right direction for your family.
The Casket
There are a multitude of caskets out there and what you get can make the service feel different. There are many different materials from which to choose and you can also get different colors. Some caskets are plain, which is perfect for those who don’t want a big fuss. There are also caskets with carvings and you can even customize those, if you’d like.
Service Music
One of the things that stands out the most about any service at a funeral home is the music you choose for your loved one. People most often choose hymns, but you can also have someone sing a song or two as a special music guest. You can have someone in your family play an instrument, hire someone to do music, or whatever else you want.
The Readings
Funerals also usually incorporate a reading or several. You can have special Bible verses read that can encourage guests with hope. You could also have someone read a poem. You could even have someone read something your loved one wrote, whether it’s a short story, a letter, or something else people attending would find inspiring.
The Eulogizer
The person you choose to give the eulogy at the service can make it very unique and special. You want to choose someone close, but not too close so they won’t be emotional at the service and unable to speak when the time comes. Pick someone who will do a good job of giving memories and summarizing the person’s life in a unique way. The eulogy is also one of the most important parts of the service.
There are plenty of other ways to make a final service with a funeral home feel unique and special. Remember that even if you do exactly the same things as someone else, the service is going to be different because it revolves around your loved one and their personality. There’s no one else like them in this world, that’s for sure.
